Leading with Clinical Excellence and Genuine Compassion

Dinusha — known warmly to her clients and colleagues as Didi — is the Principal Clinical Psychologist and a founding pillar of the Sunshine Coast Psychology Clinic. Holding a Master of Clinical Psychology, Didi brings extensive clinical experience, warmth and a genuine passion for supporting adolescents and adults through life's challenges.

Her clinical experience spans a broad range of presentations, including complex trauma, anxiety and mood disorders, eating difficulties, perinatal mental health and relationship challenges. She is committed to providing thoughtful, evidence-based psychological care that recognises each person's unique experiences, strengths and circumstances.

Didi is a Board-Approved Supervisor with the Psychology Board of Australia and is passionate about supporting the growth and development of fellow psychologists. She values reflective practice, ongoing professional development and fostering a collaborative environment where clinicians feel supported to deliver high-quality care.

As Principal Clinical Psychologist, Didi plays an integral role in the clinical direction of the clinic, supporting ethical practice, clinical excellence and a consistently compassionate, client-centred approach across the clinics.

Evidence-Based, Individually Tailored Therapy

Didi takes a holistic and integrative approach to psychological therapy, recognising that mental health and wellbeing are influenced by the interconnectedness of our thoughts, emotions, physical health, relationships, life experiences and environment.

She believes that meaningful and sustainable change comes from understanding the whole person, rather than focusing solely on symptoms or diagnoses.

Drawing on a range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Schema Therapy, mindfulness-based and attachment-informed approaches, Didi tailors therapy to each individual's needs, values and goals.

Her approach is collaborative, compassionate and grounded in a strong therapeutic relationship. She places particular importance on helping clients develop greater self-awareness, understand their emotional and behavioural patterns, build resilience and cultivate a more compassionate relationship with themselves.

Didi also recognises the important connection between mind and body, incorporating an understanding of nervous system regulation, lifestyle and the broader factors that contribute to psychological wellbeing.

Her aim is not simply to alleviate distress, but to support clients in developing a deeper understanding of themselves and creating meaningful, lasting change.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)An evidence-based approach that helps clients identify and shift unhelpful patterns of thinking and behaviour.
Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT)A values-based approach that supports psychological flexibility and meaningful action alongside difficult thoughts and feelings.
Schema TherapyAn integrative approach that explores longstanding emotional patterns and core beliefs shaped by life experiences.
Mindfulness-Based ApproachesPractices that support present-moment awareness, self-compassion and emotional regulation.
Attachment-Informed PracticeAn approach that considers the role of relationships and early experiences in emotional wellbeing and patterns of connection.

What Didi Treats

Didi works with adolescents (from 12 years) and adults across a broad range of psychological presentations, including anxiety, depression and mood difficulties, trauma and post-traumatic stress, eating difficulties, body image concerns, relationship challenges, attachment difficulties, and issues relating to self-esteem and identity. She has a particular interest in perinatal mental health, including pregnancy, birth and the transition to parenthood, as well as supporting individuals navigating emotional regulation difficulties, stress and significant life transitions. With extensive experience working with complex trauma and longstanding emotional difficulties, Didi recognises the importance of looking beyond presenting symptoms to understand the underlying patterns, life experiences and relational dynamics that may contribute to ongoing distress. Her holistic and individualised approach aims to foster greater self-awareness, emotional wellbeing and meaningful, lasting change.

Didi's Approach to Care

“I believe that meaningful change begins with feeling genuinely seen, heard and understood. Therapy is not simply about managing symptoms, but about developing a deeper understanding of ourselves, cultivating self-compassion and creating a life that feels meaningful and aligned with who we are.”

Didi brings warmth, authenticity and genuine curiosity to her work. She believes that the therapeutic relationship is central to meaningful change and strives to create a space where clients feel safe to explore their experiences openly, without fear of judgment.

Her therapeutic style balances compassion with gentle challenge, supporting clients to develop insight, recognise unhelpful patterns and move towards meaningful change at a pace that feels right for them.

With a holistic perspective on wellbeing, Didi is passionate about helping people reconnect with themselves, understand the relationship between their mind and body, and develop practical strategies that support their emotional and psychological health.

As a supervisor and mentor, Didi is equally passionate about nurturing the professional growth of fellow psychologists. She values a supportive, reflective and collaborative clinical environment and believes that investing in the wellbeing and development of clinicians ultimately strengthens the quality of care provided to clients.

Beyond her clinical work, Didi has a strong interest in holistic wellbeing, the mind–body connection and the importance of nurturing mental health across all stages of life. She is passionate about empowering individuals with the knowledge, insight and tools to take an active role in their own wellbeing.
